In some regions, infants whose mothers die during childbirth are buried alongside them. Others are abandoned in graveyards, pit latrines, or marketplaces—left to die alone. Children of persecuted Christians, martyred for their faith, are often left behind with no one to care for them. Many are forced into slavery, working long hours without food, pay, or the opportunity to learn or play.
